HOMELESS CONNECT - VICTORIA PARK - FRIDAY APRIL 30
Riverview Community Services is excited to be a part of Homeless Connect, Victoria Park. This event is a collaboration of agencies from all levels of Government, community groups and schools as well as local business. The goal is to provide a point of connection, a ‘one stop shop’ experience for homeless or disadvantaged people in our local community.

What do we need? A lot!!!! Below is a list of some specifics
Volunteers: willing hands and helpers play a vital role in the success of an event like this one. We need friendly faces – people who can welcome and walk with the clients as they seek the services they need.
We also need technically minded people who can run cables for power, erect tents and other support structures, and look after lights, power, photography and filming of the event.
We need task lovers, who like getting things right, and can look after the administrative work both before the event and on the day.
We need visionary people, who will have creative ideas to make this a true day of connection for both volunteers and clients.
Above all we needs teams of willing hands to set up and pack down on the day, distribute flyers, and do the clean up.
SPECIALIST VOLUNTEERS:
To be able to offer clients a holistic service on the day we are looking for people who have an area of specialty people like…
DOCTORS - NURSES - MASSAGE THERAPISTS - CHAPLAINS - LAWYERS - DENTISTS - PODIATRISTS - ARTISTS - HAIRDRESSERS - OPTOMETRISTS - CHILDCARE WORKERS - SOCIAL WORKERS - PSYCHOLOGISTS - ADVOCATES
This list is not exhaustive of course, so if you have an area of specialty and would like to be involved, we would love to hear from you!!
DONATION OF GOODS AND FINANCES
Financial donations are very welcome and are fully tax deductible
Donations of in kind support through provision of vital services to ensure the success of the event are crucial and greatly appreciated.
Goods needed:
· Clothes and shoes (new or recycled) donations of underwear must be new
· Non perishable food items
· Toiletries
· Bushes and combs
· Stationary and stamps
· Sleeping bags and blankets
· Sunglasses and prescription glasses
· Old mobile phone handsets and chargers
COLLECTION POINTS FOR THESE ITEMS IS RIVERIVEW COMMUNITY SERVICES AND CAN BE LEFT IN THE BINS IN THE RECEPTION AREA

Our 'practical helps' program is growing - connecting community needs with those willing to assist. If you are willing to get involved or just to find out about needs as they arise, please send your contact details to signposts@riverview.org.au and we will add you onto the contact list. This program runs all year and the requests for assistance come from all over Perth, maybe even your neighbourhood. By adding your name to our contact list, you will be regularly updated with the requests we have received so that you can help as you are able. Listed below is a number of requests received.

Cathy Morgan lives in Thornlie and is seeking assistance with transport to and from Riverview Church for the saturday night service. She is willing to contribute to petrol costs. Please phone her on 9459 5395 if you can help.
