Visiting the Elderly

We visit elderly people in aged care facilities who may be lonely.

The Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) is an Australian Government initiative which aims to support elderly people in aged care facilities who may be lonely and at risk of social isolation. We provide visitors for residents whose quality of life would be enriched by friendship and companionship.

We are looking for volunteers who would enjoy building a one-to-one relationship with a resident, making a commitment to visit the person on a regular basis for one hour per fortnight.

By befriending an older person living in an aged care facility, you have the chance to make a positive difference to their life – and to your own.

As a community visitor you will also be invited to attend regular CVS team appreciation events and support meetings. If you are interested in becoming a community visitor we would love to hear from you. Please contact the CVS Coordinator for further information.
